We all want to keep our furry friends safe and sound, so consider stopping by the BC SPCA Kamloops Spay Neuter Clinic and BC Pet Registry for free microchip implantation and registration for your pets. “This wildfire season served as a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly pets can become separated from their families, and how difficult it can be to reunite them when they don’t have identification,” says Kahlee Demers, Senior Manager of Animal Triage and Flow with the BC SPCA. Approximately 85% of stray cats and 40% of stray dogs could not be returned to their homes in 2025 often due to a lack of permanent identification. The event will run from 1–4 p.m. on Sept. 25 at 2816 Tranquille Road.
