The student’s hard work and skills were impressive, and we could not be happier with the results. We’re excited to cheer on Alexis Nelson, Logan Jones and McKinley Journeay as they compete at the National Skills Competition in Toronto in May.
Along with saying thanks to the staff, coaches, family, and colleagues who attended, we’d also like to thank Dewalt Canada for providing support to everyone who competed at the provincial level and will be competing at the national level.
Building on our cover photo and story this month, one of the amazing City of Kamloops Exemplary Service Awards was the Chair of the Kamloops Local News Society board, Tom Dickinson. 18-year-oldyou Tom from your leadership and guidance for the board and for the huge success so far at the Chronicle!

Huge Congratulations to Castanet’s Kristen Holliday! From Castanet: “A joint investigation by Castanet and The Tyee into political turmoil at Kamloops city hall has been named a finalist for a national journalism award. The story, Mayor of Chaos: How Kamloops politics became infamous, was unveiled Tuesday as a finalist for the Canadian Association of Journalists’ Geoffrey Stevens Award for local government reporting. Co-reported by Castanet Kamloops’ Kristen Holliday and Tyler Olsen of The Tyee, the deep dive examines the dysfunction and controversy surrounding Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson’s time in office. It was published in both outlets on Oct. 8.”
