Donate to or Apply for the The Out of the Ashes (OOTA) bursary! The bursary was initiated in 2007 as a prevention initiative by Leann Kopytko, a youth counsellor with Day One Society and her late husband Ron Kopytko who shared her passion for helping youth. The vision of the OOTA bursary is to provide educational support to those with a minimum of one year recovery time from problematic substance use, who are either living in/from Kamloops or are going to school in Kamloops. For more information go online to

Kudos to long time Kamloops resident and community advocate Diane Czyzewski who has volunteered her time and efforts to causes like banning pesticide use, multiple chemical sensitivities, and low income seniors. Agree or disagree, Diane has always been open to conversation. She has been known to send greeting cards to city councillors, and once if memory serves, roses.
Regan Hayes and the team at Simply Computing donated a MacBook Pro and some tech gear so Dominique at shewandersearth.com can stay connected and post videos of the journey.
For almost 30 years, Jo Berry and her RunClub team have been helping people, of any age, ability and pace, get outside and get active — increasing not only physical health but emotional, mental and spiritual health as well. RunClub Coach Arjun Singh (also the Chronicle’s exec director) reports this spring group of participants is one of the most amazing groups in his years in the club! Shout out to all the RunClub coaches – Laurel, Howie, Rick, Kevin, Tom, Paula, Tania, Sheridan, Annie, Mandy, Clint, Terry, Adrienne, Carlo, and Gaudenza!
