Still more to celebrate in Kamloops this month!
Sue Steenson leads the revival of the Terry Fox Run in Kamloops: Life-sized cut out of Terry Fox in hand, Sue and her team travelled all over Kamloops this summer to promote the 45th Anniversary of the run. Their dedication and enthusiasm inspired many, including members of the local legal community. Jensen Law’s donation and challenge to colleagues led to donations by Jensen, Crown Counsel, Fulton law, Iain Currie, and others. Close to 500 participants from many walks of life participated in the run on Sep. 14. The original fundraising goal was $16,000 and the run has raised over $70,000 so far this year, the largest annual sum ever raised by far. So awesome! You can still donate until the end of the year at run.terryfox.ca/kamloops and if you want to be part of organizing for next year, contact Sue Steenson at [email protected].

Kamloops steps up to create a Food Bank Miracle: A mere week before the Fall Rotary Food Drive, the word was received that Canada Post would be unable to deliver 33,000 food donation bags. The amazing Bernadette Siracky, Food Bank Executive Director and her amazing board and staff put out a SOS call to ask the community for help delivering bags. In less than a week, so many people stepped up to deliver all the bags. What’s more, on food drive day, the community donated more food than ever before — over 75,000 pounds of food. Well done, Kamloops!
