Still more to celebrate in Kamloops this month!
Congrats to Stacey Turpin, new Executive Director at BGC (formerly Boys and Girls Club) Kamloops and Williams Lake. From BGC: “For more than two decades, Stacey Turpin has been a familiar and trusted presence behind the scenes at BGC Kamloops and Williams Lake. Now, she’s stepping into the spotlight as the organization’s new Executive Director, a natural evolution of her long-standing commitment to supporting children, youth, and families across the region. Turpin’s journey with the Club began in 2004. Over the years, she has steadily shaped its growth through her leadership in finance and operations. Most recently serving as Director of Finance, Turpin’s expertise in budget planning, risk management, and contract oversight has helped position the organization for long-term success”
Kamloops Street Rod Association raises more money for RIH Pediatrics with annual show! “We would like to make you aware of our upcoming event Chrome on the Grass July 12, 2025 at the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Powwow grounds. Our goal for this year is to raise $20,000 to donate to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation. Since the beginning in 1988, we have specified that the funds are earmarked for the Pediatrics Wards. The Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc has allowed us to host our event on the Powwow grounds and arbour again this year. We are pleased to work with Valley Markets which has a long list of vendors that will be set up in the Arbour”
Women In the Director’s Chair (WIDC) is proud to announce that Cjay Boisclair (Kamloops’ own) is the recipient of the 2025 WIDC Advantage Award, for her debut feature film MARY, based on her concept short, The Bench. The award supports the development and packaging of her emotionally charged and deeply personal script about a teenage girl navigating homelessness, trauma, and hard-won hope.
We join the team at the Kamloops Airport in congratulating Barry! “We are thrilled to recognize Barry Dagg, a nominee for the Canadian Airports Council | Conseil des aéroports du Canada Outstanding Leadership Award. As the Manager, Facilities and Emergency Response at the airport, Barry’s leadership, dedication, and exemplary service have made a lasting impact on the Kamloops Airport community. His nomination for this prestigious award speaks volumes about his commitment and the high regard in which he is held by his colleagues and the industry. While the award went to another candidate this year, we couldn’t be more proud of Barry’s contributions and his drive to make a difference at YKA every day.”
The 103-year-old Rotary Club of Kamloops closed down with a Celebration of Rotary and the Community. About 75 people attended the Club’s final meeting where over $65,000 in donations were made to various community organizations. A slideshow was shown that contained archival material from the club since 1922. Most of the club members have now transferred to one of the other Rotary clubs in Kamloops and Sun Peaks.
