March 21 @ 7:30 to 10:30 PM at The Effie Arts Collective: Uncle Strut with Wander North. Uncle Strut has turned their dive bar beginnings into packed headlining shows at Vancouver’s Hollywood Theatre and has shared the stage with legendary acts such as The Goo Goo Dolls, George Thorogood, Babyjake, and Sarina Ryder. Their live show is an indie rock melting pot not soon to be forgotten. Wander North is a 5 piece Northern rock band hailing from the interior of BC. Advance tickets $15 and $20 at the door.

March 6 to 15 at Paramount Theatre: Kamloops Film Festival. Get ready for the 29th Annual Kamloops Film Festival! From March 6 to 15, join us for a captivating lineup of  worldwide award-winning films, including thrilling genre flicks from Darkfest films in partnership with Drunk in a Graveyard. The nine day celebration includes opening and closing galas, workshops, special guests, and other events. Explore a variety of genres, including documentaries, comedies, dramas, and Canadian films. March 14 @ 6:45 PM at Effie Arts Collective: TNBCASW in support for KIS WE program presents: Vagina Monologues. Doors open at 6:45, preshow starts at 7, and curtain at 7:30. First come, first served seating with tables of 4-6 people. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available at the bar. You may wish to bring cash to purchase 50/50 tickets. There will also be a silent auction! The Vagina Monologues, written by Eve Ensler, is a show composed of brief yet impactful monologues that capture diverse women’s stories when they were interviewed about their vaginas. The stories showcase the resilience of the human spirit, as well as pain, hope, loss, and love.

ART

January to April 19 at Kamloops Art Gallery: Ithin-eh-wuk – we place ourselves at the center: James Nicholas and Sandra Semchuk. For fifteen years, James Nicholas and Sandra Semchuk collaborated on a series of nationally exhibited photo-installations and videos which unveil the mindset and effects of colonialism through the lens of their remarkable intercultural marriage. This exhibition brings together for the first time a comprehensive selection of their collaborations, tracing their creative output from their initial meeting in 1993 until Nicholas’s accidental death in 2007.

January to April 19 at Kamloops Art Gallery: DREAM ; NÀTE Casey Koyczan is returning to Kamloops to develop a new project as artist-in-residence in The Cube. As part of his creative process, Koyczan is piecing together imagery and narratives from a dream that brought him from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, to Kamloops.  Dream; nàte is an interpretation of Koyczan’s dream that takes him through the halls of the university, recalls people that influenced him and activities and places that occupied him both within and outside his studies.

March 9 @ 4 to 8 PM at Fox & Hounds Pub. Sammy’s Forgotten Felines presents: Pub Night! Tickets: $30 each includes a deluxe burger (choice of chicken, beef, or veggie) with fries or mixed salad. March 12 @ 10 AM to 3 PM at the TRU Library Makerspace on the first floor of House of Learning: The Kamloops Repair Cafe. This is your opportunity to get small electrical items, clothing, bicycles, and even small wooden furniture repaired by local volunteers. You will even get to learn some valuable repair skills! March 9 @ 10 AM at Henry Grube Education Center: Kamloops Ridge Runners Bob Trudeau Memorial Spring Run Off Hosted by the Kamloops Ridge Runners, the Spring Run Off is celebrating its 40th Anniversary. Now named in remembrance, the Bob Trudeau Memorial (BTM) Spring Run Off is happening Sunday, March 9th. As with all Ridge Runners events, this is more than just a race, it’s a celebration of strength, community, and the thrill of crossing that finish line. Certified 5km and 10km distances. Medals for the Top 3 in each age group. Cash prizes for the top 3 in each gender. Participants receive a special anniversary medal to commemorate the day!
